Biographical Notes

Antony Gleeson is a graduate of the NSWIPP psychotherapy training and is a long-standing member of AAGP, serving on the committee of management for many years, including a term as president. His long-standing interest in the social nature of the human being has influenced his practice as a psychotherapist, family therapist and group therapist; he has taught group dynamics at post-graduate level at (then) UWS. He is now retired from clinical practice, though he maintains an active involvement with AAGP. He is otherwise occupied with music, woodworking and grandchildren.

Allan Shafer Dr Allan Shafer, Clinical Psychologist, is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and a socioanalytic organisation consultant in private practice in Melbourne, Australia.

He is a former member of the PPAA Executive and a past President of Group Relations Australia. He has directed or consulted on the staff of group relations conferences in Australia, the UK, India, China, Israel, Poland, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He was associate director of the Tavistock Institute’s 2019 Leicester Conference. He has published widely in the psychotherapy and the group relations fields.

Timothy Keogh is a training analyst and couple and family psychotherapist. He is President of the Australian Psychoanalytical Society and English Vice President of the International Association of Couple and Family Psychoanalysis. He is also a Senior Lecturer at Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney. He was a member of the Steering Group towards the Confederation’s formation and currently serves as Vice President on the Confederation Board. His most recent co-edited book is Interpretation in Couple and Family Psychoanalysis: Cross Cultural Perspectives (Routledge).

Christine Hill, Ph.D, Fellow IPA College of Researchers; FCCLP; AAGP, is a Melbourne-based clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist working with individuals and groups. She has published several papers, and a book based on her Doctorate: What do patients want? She was a representative on the initial delegation working towards the formation of the Confederation.

Andrew Gresham is a Jungian Training Analyst, with ANZSJA. He works in private practice in Christchurch/Ōtautahi, New Zealand/Aotearoa. He is the immediate past President of ANZSJA, a Jungian analytic training society accredited by the IAAP in Zurich.
He undertook his Jungian analytic training at the Society of Analytical Psychology, London.

Paul Coombe is a psychiatrist and individual and group psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice. He was the Overseas Senior Registrar in Psychotherapy at the Cassel Hospital, London 1990 to 1993. He is a member of the AAGP(including as a past President) and the VAPP. He has published in local and international journals including in the areas of family therapy, psychoanalytic aspects of eating disorders, small and large analytic groups, Munchausen’s Syndrome by proxy (also included as a chapter in a book), the works of William Shakespeare and recently on Epistemology and the nature of Truth. He has an interest in the works of Norbert Elias, Sociologist.

Paul McEvoy is a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in private practice in Perth. He completed his psychoanalytic psychotherapy training with the Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy of WA in the early 1990’s, and since that time has been active in APPWA and the PPAA. He was part of the steering group which worked for a decade toward the establishment of the Australasian Confederation of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapies, and has been a Director of the Confederation since its establishment in 2018.

Michael Moore is a psychiatrist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist working in the private and public sectors in Sydney. He trained with NSWIPP, is a past President and current Chair of Training. In the public sector, he is a VMO in Sydney Local Health District, supervising psychiatry trainees undertaking their psychodynamic psychotherapy experiences. His private practice consists of psychoanalytic psychotherapy with adults as well as supervision. In addition to his NSWIPP roles, he is on the executive that coordinates the RANZCP Advanced Training in the Psychotherapies program. He teaches for NSWIPP, the RANZCP and SLHD. He is also a PPAA Councillor and is a past-Chair of the Training and CPD committees.

Louise Hird is a Clinical Psychologist and an Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychoanalyst. She works in private practice in Sydney. Louise is the founder and Director of the Winn Clinic — a psychoanalytic consultation and referral service. She won first prize in the IPSO writing awards and the paper was presented at the IPA Congress in Prague in 2013. This paper was published in the IPSO Journal — Psychotic Observations — Inside Out. This paper was based on observations of psychotic processes in a locked psychiatric ward and was intended to enhance and develop our understanding of psychotic processes in the consulting room. Louise presented a paper at the European Psychoanalytic Federation in Warsaw in 2018 on a child analysis. “A car crash — Forts, ‘Trumpian Walls’ and Greek Gods” She is the Branch Chair of the Sydney Institute for Psychoanalysis.

Joy Norton is a Jungian Analyst and Counselling Psychologist in Private Practice in Melbourne. She is the current President of ANZSJA, a Training Analyst and past Training Co Director. She has an interest in the experience of the body in the analytic encounter and co-creative processes in analytic practice.
